Kim Barker Dressage Clinic

Category: Training — Carrie @ 10:02 am

Friday and Saturday I had the privilege of riding a young warmblood mare, Esmerelda, in a clinic with Kim Barker.  I thoroughly enjoyed Kim’s teaching style.  She is very approachable, knowledgeable, and fun to ride with.  We worked on circles (Esmerelda’s geometry isn’t always so good!), getting more suppleness through the shoulders, stretchy trot, and test riding strategies.  I love being part of the process of young horses under saddle, developing and learning.  I now have my homework cut out for me as I prepare for the ODS Whoa! Adult Team Show in Salem, OR next month!

I sure missed the company of Esmerelda’s breeder and co-owner, Catherine Ulrey.  As a result of her absence, I don’t have any pictures to post.  Hopefully next time.

Many thanks to Judy Herman, of  Three Gaits in Rogue River, who hosted the clinic and to Solbrit Hill for transportation and a great time together.
